asked questions

What are 3D areola tattoos?

A 3D areola tattoo is a realistic tattoo that creates the appearance of a natural nipple and areola. It is often used as the final step in breast reconstruction after a mastectomy or other breast surgery.

Who can benefit from 3D areola tattooing?

3D areola tattoos are perfect for breast cancer survivors, individuals who have had breast surgery, or anyone who has lost their nipples due to a medical procedure.

DOES INSURANCE COVER IT?

Although we do not directly bill insurance, we will provide you with a “Letter of Medical Necessity” which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Most plans cover at least a portion of 3D areola tattooing, if not the whole amount.

how far post op do i need to be to get my new nipples?

It is advised that clients be 6 months post op from their last operation before receiving 3D areola tattoos to give the skin ample time to heal. Please consult with your doctor to confirm your readiness.

Will it hurt?

Most clients describe the experience as very mild or even painless. Topical numbing creams can be used to ensure your comfort.

Is it suitable for all skin types and tones?

3D areola tattooing is highly personalized and designed to match each individuals, unique skin tone and type. We use a custom blend of pigments based on the undertones of your skin to create realistic color and shading ensuring the tattoo complements the surrounding skin seamlessly. This process re-creates the depth and dimension of a natural areola tailored specifically to each individual.

Are they permanent?

Similar to traditional tattoos, 3D areola tattoos are permanent. They require at least two sessions due to the skin being compromised. However once settled in, your new nipples will last a lifetime.

How long do they take to heal?

Your new nipples will take about a month to completely heal. You will leave the office with a complete understanding of how to properly care for them. (Don’t worry, it’s super easy!)

Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

Absolutely! We simply ask due to space regulations that you limit it to one guest.
